Even before I was born, musica latina has been in my blood.  My father had an amazing collection of vinyl ranging from Fania to Fuentes records.  I remember him sifting through them and making tapes to take to after hours soccer practices and endless weekend parties.  I was visually amazed by the artwork displayed on the records like Dimension Latina, Fruko Y Sus Tesos, Oscar D'Leon, and of course Fania.

Over summer breaks, my parents were busy working and they didn't have anyone to take care of me.  So, they shipped me off to my grandmother's house.  My grandmother also had a major influence in my latin music background.  She would always have the radio turned on to the only latin station we had in D.C., Radio Mundo(WMDO).  While she would cook, I would dance to all the latin hits of the 80's.  Back then, a new group from Colombia named Grupo Niche had just came out and Joe Arroyo(Fruko) went solo.

Below are some nice mixes of my influences.  The first in the series of many is called Tracion Y Tristeza(Sadness & Betryal).  Although latin music is very festive, some of the best tunes are the ones that make us cry.

The second mix is a variety of salsa, merengue and bachata.  I decided to title the mix "El Papi Champu".  It means a man who dresses well, gets all of the ladies and takes extra special care of his hair.  This obviously perfectly fits my lifestyle...LOL!!!  Shout outs to all my people in Wachington Heights.  Dale!
